A GUIDED ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN BIKE CULTURAL SIGHTSEEING EXPERIENCE
HANGI BIKE TOUR
Welcome to the Hāngī Bike Tour, a guided e-mountain bike journey that carries you through the geothermal heart of Rotorua and into the world-famous Whakarewarewa Forest. Starting from the Wheelhouse Coffee Shop at Te Puia’s Southern Carpark, guests are fitted with quality pedal-assist e-mountain bikes before setting off on a relaxed ride through cycleways, forest trails, geothermal landscapes, and some of Rotorua’s most meaningful cultural places.
Along the way, your guide will share the stories that live within this landscape, from the legend of Hatupatu and Kurungaituku to the bubbling geothermal activity of Whangāpipiro and the panoramic views from Pohaturoa Lookout. The ride continues through the Redwoods of Titokorangi, where the natural beauty of the forest, its modern history, and its world-class trail network come together to show why this place is so loved by locals and visitors alike.
The journey finishes with a traditional hāngī buffet lunch, bringing the experience full circle through kai, manaakitanga, and connection. Designed for confident bike riders but suitable for beginner mountain bikers, the Hāngī Bike Tour is an uplifting half-day adventure that blends Māori culture, geothermal wonder, forest riding, and local flavour into one truly Rotorua experience.
